Abureti Takaio is an I-Kiribati politician and academic. He was, at one time prior to the mid-1990s, Minister for the Line and Phoenix Groups.〔("The Natural History of Caroline Atoll, Southern Line Islands" ), Kepler, Angela & Kepler, Cameron (eds.), National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, February 1994〕 In 2002, he was an unsuccessful candidate to the Maneaba ni Maungatabu (national House of Assembly).〔("REPUBLIC OF KIRIBATI LEGISLATIVE ELECTION OF 29 NOVEMBER AND 6 DECEMBER 2002" ), Adam Carr's electoral archives〕
